What exactly is CNG?

At Chalkboard CNG, we’re here to help you understand all things CNG— from the basics to installing your very own fueling station, let’s dig in!

What is CNG?

CNG stands for Compressed Natural Gas and is made by compressing natural gas (methane) down to less than 1% of its volume. CNG is natural, colorless, odorless, and non-toxic— making it a safer and cleaner fuel option. While other fuel sources— such as gasoline, diesel, and propane— create smog and other harmful tailpipe pollution, CNG does the opposite!

What makes CNG different?

CNG is better for the environment due to it's clean-burning nature. Additionally, it’s non-toxic and dissipates quickly, eliminating risk of a spill or explosion.

It’s easy to use once we set up your fueling system— it operates and looks very similar to a standard fuel pump! In addition, there are state and federal grants that you can apply for which will help cover the cost to support the switch to CNG. Our CNG fuel pumps are also low maintenance— any updates or repairs needed are all taken care of by us! School districts who choose to use CNG as a fuel source for their bus fleets can receive LEED credits. We want to make the transition to green fuel as easy as possible for you!

Chalkboard CNG’s Mission

Our mission is to provide a safer and cleaner fuel system for school transportation. School buses require a large amount of fuel and feed into the always-growing production of smog and air pollution. Our priority at Chalkboard CNG is to help make the transportation of future generations cleaner and safer.
